Slit-lamp Biomicroscope
Slit-lamp Biomicroscope
The Topcon SL4 with a DC2 camera slit-lamp biomicroscope is a highly versatile instrument dedicated principally to the examination of the different structures of the anterior part of the eye:

  • The cornea (the clear part of the eye), the conjunctiva (the white part of the eye), the eyelids, the lid margins and eye lashes.
  •  The skilful use of the instrument, associated with the use of specialised lenses, techniques or attachments, allows also the examination of the tear film (Tearscope), of the crystal line lens and even the retina (Goldman lens) in a unique manner not possible by other techniques.
The instrument used at MICHEL GUILLON incorporates a programmable digital camera that produces permanent photographic and video records.

Slit lamp biomicroscopy is an integral part of the routine examination and is also used extensively for contact lens fitting, to manage patients with dry eye complaints and those that have anterior eye conditions (e.g. keratoconus) or are contemplating or had  corneal surgery (e.g. LASIK, corneal graft…).
