What is Dry Eye?
Dry eye, as the name of the condition indicates, is generally thought to be due to a decrease in tear production and an insufficient tear volume to maintain the eye's correct hydration. In fact, dry eye is caused by a wide range of tear related conditions, which all produce symptoms of dryness.

The tear film is a very complex three layer structure. Most often in the non severe cases, the causes are more predominantly an abnormal tear composition rather than an insufficient tear volume.  Also the long term presence of dry eye symptoms is usually associated with a low grade chronic inflammation of the front part of the eye which contributes to the symptoms reported.

The clinical programme at MICHEL GUILLON puts an emphasis upon finding out the causes of the dry eye and managing the original condition and any associated inflammation.  For each patient an  individualised management is developed by customising the range of products  prescribed and their modality of use (e.g. frequency use and timing in relation to activites and times of day).
