Two types of wear or wearing modalities exist: daily wear and extended wear

 

The contact lenses are only worn during waking hours and before sleep they are either removed and discarded (Daily disposable) or stored in a care system and replaced at a predetermined time (Frequent replacement).

 

Extended wear (also called Continuous wear)

The contact lenses are worn during both waking hours and sleep without removal from one day to 30 days.
