DR MICHEL GUILLON AT THE FOREFRONT OF DRY EYE RESEARCH

Dr Michel Guillon has been invited to be a speaker at the BCLA Pioneers Conference in November this year. Dr Guillon will respond in his expert areas of Tear Film Analysis and Managing Dry Eyes. Dr Guillon will be addressing the following in the Quick-fire Sesson of the conference, 'The tear film lipid layer - why we need to examine it'.

Further on in the conference Dr Michel Guillon will be placing his expertise to the test. Dr Guillon's primary areas of interest are in assessment of the tear film and ocular tissue, and the management of dry eye patients, particularly when associated with contact lens wear. His areas of expertise also include the selection of contact lens material for individual patients, and the properties of silicone hydrogel lenses and their clinical relevance. Other interests include visual performance assessment and contact lens presbyopic correction.

The two questions Dr Guillon will be addressing are:

1.  Is using a slit lamp and fluorescein sufficient to assess dry eyes?

2.  Is there any point in carrying out a dry-eye assessment in practice?
